Alligator
cracks are a series of cracks in close proximity
over a given area - like a spider’s
web.
This patching method will be used where
the stone in the black top is present, but
the emulsion has pulled away and is about
1/8”-1/4” below stone This type
of filling is used only on areas where traffic
would be driving straight over patch and not
turning a great deal.
This patch will be thin but long lasting
when applied properly.
Estimate material needed and assess the situation
for proper fill of area.
Begin by removing sand and debris from area
of repair.
Clean visible grease and oil from surface.
Using liquid bladder, pour liquid directly
from bladder onto surface, using a squeegee
to distribute evenly over repair area.
Now sprinkle aggregate over the top to completely
cover liquid, and to activate the hardening
process.
Excess aggregate may be swept from area after
curing.
If needed, continue this process in surrounding
areas, until product is used up, or recap
liquid bladder, and close aggregate bag to
keep for future use.
Any remaining liquid and aggregate must be
used in this manner.
Product initially comes proportioned for
successful pothole filling.
Using partial amounts, as in dealing with
alligator cracks, causes the ratios to be
unbalanced. It will not be successful for
pothole filling.
